Pink Holographic Manicure with a Dotty Accent.

This was ridiculously easy to do. This actually started out life as a swatch for Barry M Nail Paint in Strawberry Ice Cream  but I played around with it.

Steps

  1.  Basecoat each nail with Rimmel Nail Nurse (click to learn how to properly basecoat) Also dab Vaseline around the skin surrounding the nails.
  2. 2 coats Barry M Strawberry Ice Cream. This one is very runny so don't overload the brush.
  3. Leave to totally dry.
  4. Using Barry M Nail Art pen in white, dot the ring fingernail as seen above.
  5. Paint all remaining nails with GG Couture Holographic nail polish in Crisp Apple Rose.
  6. Topcoat using Sally Hansen Hard As Nails.
This one might seem daunting but I assure you its really easy. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Take your time doing this, give each coat plenty of time to dry.

I hope to do a video for this at some point.

Until then.

Announcement!

Hey guys!

I would like to announce that I am now going to be merging my two blogs. My old personal blog will be deleted and everything will be put up on this one.

Prepare to see a lot more random posts. I will still be posting loads of awesome nailart and beauty reviews, tutorials and more.

Pink colour block nail art

This was surprisingly easy, just rather time consuming because of the various steps.

What I used:
> Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Basecoat (also used as topcoat)
> Barry M Matte Nail Paint in MNP9 Rhossili
> Barry M Silk Nail Effects in SKNP1 Blossom
> Barry M Textured Nail Effects in TNP7 Nude Duchess
> Micropore tape or striping tape

How I did it:

  1. First I painted a basecoat using Sally Hansen Hard As Nails. For this you only need to apply one coat.
  2. When this is touch dry, I then applied Rhossili (the pink one). This one tends to dry fairly streaky so you might need thin coats and gradually build up the colour. Remember this is a matte colour and should dry without any shine.
  3. Let the entire paint completely dry.
  4. On each nail place a strip of micro pore tape cross the bottom half of the nail. Press fairly firmly on the surface of each nail ensuring no bubbles.
  5. Use Blossom (the pearly pink one) to paint the exposed nails on each finger. This is quite a runny paint and needs to be again applied in very thin coats and gradually building up the colour, take care not to overload the brush.
  6. Leave this to completely dry.
  7. Carefully place a piece of micropore across the top half of the nail, leaving a small band of space between it and the piece of tape on the bottom half, preferably right in the middle of each nail.
  8. Use Nude Duchess (the silvery one) to paint a small thick line across the middle of each nail, in between bands of tape.
  9. Carefully remove each tape, taking care not to remove any polish from then nail surface.
  10. Carefully apply topcoat.
  11. Leave to completely dry.

I know this is really long and might seem a bit daunting. So I will be doing a video soon to demonstrate, so keep your eyes peeled.

All Nail Polishes in this tutorial are going to be listed in a new page entitled Directory soon.

For now though.

Nail Art #2 ----} Red Fishnet Nails

I apologise for the bad picture quality. This is what happens when you have a really crappy camera. First world problems, I know.

This nail art was actually completely accidental. I started off with a coat of Rimmel Nail Nurse followed by two or three coats of Barry M Nail Polish in 273 Raspberry. This shade is really easy to put on, but like all Barry M products, build up the colour gradually, don't overclog your brush.

After this had totally dried I then used a Barry M NailArt pen in white to add criss-cross patterns from left to right, up and down the nails. I then added a very thin layer of the previous nail colour and sealed with several layers of topcoat to give it a nice gel-like finish.
Unlike my other designs, this is probably the most difficult and despite using a basecoat, it did stain my nails ever so slightly. I wouldn't recommend this design as an everyday design, more of a event design.

Products used:
> Rimmel London Nail Nurse
> Barry M Nail Polish in 273 Raspberry
>Barry M NailArt Pen in White
> Sally Hansen Hard As Nails basecoat (used as topcoat)

Nail of The Day! : ---} Dotty Nails

I've been a bit nonexistent as of late, sorry about that!! But I was so happy to see so many people from all over the world looking at my blog, really quite astonishing.

Over the course of the next week, I will be updating my blog and posting loads of nailart from the past couple of months as well as nailpolish and other beauty reviews as well as, hopefully if my tech works, a few videos.

So lets get this show on the road!!

Nail of the Day Entry 1:

This is a relatively simple manicure but requires a reasonable amount of skill and an incredibly steady hand!

The key to nailing this one is to keep your designing hand steady on a book or by supporting it on a table.

What you need:

> 1 bottle of Rimmel Nail Nurse or similar basecoat
> 1 bottle of Natural Collection Nail Tip whitener or similar white nail polish
> 1 bottle of Barry M Gelly Nail Polish in GNP5 Blueberry
> 1 Barry M NailArt Pen in Pink
> 1 bottle of Barry M Topcoat or similar

Instructions:

Step 1:

First moisturise your hands. I usually use a mixture of Palmer's Cocoa Butter and Superdrug own brand vitamin E oil. Make sure you get it right into the cuticles. Gently push back the cuticles with a cuticle pusher.

Step 2:

Basecoat. These next two steps are important. Because we are using a blue nail colour it is important to use a basecoat as blue is notorious for staining and leaving residue behind. Apply one coat of basecoat and allow to dry.

Step 3:

Apply white nail polish to all nails. This will give your nails a nice clean look from the bottom of the nail and will make the colours pop once dried. Apply two coats and leave to completely dry.

Step 4:

Apply Blue nail colour. As this nail polish is quite runny, you may want to put vaseline around the nail bed to stop any nailpolish from getting on your hands. Apply 2 coats, leave to completely dry.

Step 5:

Make dots on the nails with the NailArt pen. Be careful not to use too much polish. Use sparingly. Leave to dry slightly.

Step 6:

Topcoat! And clean up residue.

I should point out that this is a very extensive list of instruction and you don't need to follow every step. However, make sure to use a good quality, nourishing topcoat and ensure every coat of nailpolish is left to dry completely, to prevent little air bubbles appearing.

Enjoy! Happy Scribbling! XOXO
